I own a Datsun 200SX and I currently have ~47K miles on my original tires. I think it is about time I got some news ones. However, since I know very little about tires, I have some questions which you knowledgeable net-readers may be able to help me with. Since the traction on a light rear wheel drive car ain't that great, I'd like to put 205/60SR14 on my car, where 185/70SR14 currently reside. How can I find out if they'll fit? (will I need new rims?) If I get new wheels, what are the advantages of having aluminum alloy (or other similar beasts) wheels? Will such high performance parts make a difference on my moderate performance car? HOW DO I DETERMINE WHAT TIRES ARE BEST FOR MY CAR? I'd like to get traction in the rain and snow too. (I live in the N.Y. metropolitan area.) I wouldn't want to spend more than $100 a tire (hopefully less). Tips on getting discounts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and wisdom.
