[comp.windows.ms] keyboard locks up in standard mode.

I am trying to use win-3.0 on a Racer-286 (From JDR Micro) with 2Megs of
Memory along with an ATI-1024 vga card. 
In real mode windows runs fine but in standard mode the keyboard locks up
within a couple of minutes. The clock in the background keeps running. 
The Racer-286 has an AMI-BIOS and is 12.5 MHz AT THE BUS. Has anyone 
experienced anything similar.
