------ Shortly after Windows 3.0 came out I posted a request for information on running Windows with an ATI 386SX machine in enhanced mode. For those who took the time to make a suggestion thanks, unfortunetly no solution was forthcomming. Actually, I was able to solve the problem after much haggling with ATI the solution turned out to be extremely simple: turns out that some ATI SX boards were shipped with 286 bios's. ATI with a little prodding sent a new set of bios chips out, actually this took a call to the president of the com"pany. Sometimes you gotta bend the rules" 2)Additionally there was a jumper incorrectly set on the motherboard. jumpers J8 & J9 need to be set to 32K page memory allocation not 16K. This particular ATI MB can be configured in about 20 ways with a multitude of different memory chips, basically its a NIGHTMARE!! Anyway to make a long story short if you have a system that wont run windows in enhanced mode look at hou your memory is configured evidently Windows needs 32K pages and/or boundries. Would I buy another ATI computer? After this problem you got to be kidding. WARNING: To the best of my knowledge the ATI video card and modem people (Canada) have NO connection with the ATI computer Bozos in Sunnyvale. good luck garys@techbook.com -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Gary L.
