Speaking of keyboard problems with Himem.@#$@$.sys. Ahhhhhhhh! I had a real nice time with Microsoft, AMI and JDR MicroDevices. When I first installed windows it would lock up the keyboard in standard mode on a 286 but run fine in real mode. Ok Call MS. 3 calls, an hour of long distance phone charges and explination of the problem to 3 different Tech-Support-"Egg"sperts later it was determined that ofcource the BIOS was incompatable. Ok so call up the dealer (JDR-Microdevices) for a bios update. Nope that is right we can not do that, you have to contact the AMI people your self. The AMI Bios people, probably already pissed of at the number of people redirected to them by MS for imaginary and real BIOS problems took my BIOS number and instantly told me that I had no BIOS problems and I should talk to microsoft. By this time I was about to burn my copy of MS-windows.3.0. In comes my girlfriend, a computer illetrate, she suggested that since the keyboard locks up why dont I get another one. And lo and behold Problems gone. Ecstacy... Yup that is right. Both keyboard, different obscure Tiwanese brands, are perfectly ok but one does not like windows. So if you have keyboard lockup. Try a different keyboard, may save you some time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sarmad Adnan (adnan@rice.edu) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
