[comp.windows.ms] Problems with 386 Enchanced Mode and Novell Netware???

suess@cs.hope.edu (Alex Suess) (07/20/90)

We have a problem at work with running 386 Enhanced mode with our
network. (Novell 386) Our machines are Dell 316SXs(w/ 2MB) and Windows will
run fine when the network drives have not been installed. However,
when IPX and NET3 have been run and we try to run WIN /3 it dies after
displaying the initial screen with no error message.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or found a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

What shells are you using?
Are you using the new DOS client kit with the Windows compatible
shells? They are version 3.01 of NET3 and IPX.

1. If I ran telnet or try to mount a network drive with win /3 enabled,
the whole network becomes paralized. Even after exiting windows the
network remains silent.

2. I`ve temporarly solve this problem by running windows in standard
mode. This is less than
satisfactory since the whole point is to be able to use all the new
memory that windows 3.0 gives us, pluss enjoy the benefits of the network.

Incidently, I installed windows 3.0 on a 286 and the same problem
appeared: The network runs in
real mode but not in standard mode...

If there is a kind soul that can give us some hints on how to solve our
problems we would be most gratefull
