[comp.windows.ms] DDE Between Windows 3 and DOS Application

MS Word 5, MS Multiplan, and Softbridge Bridge demonstrate that an MS-DOS
application can sense the Windows environment and interact with Windows
objects (e.g. clipboard) and applications.  The Window 3 SDK (beta version)
does not (seem to) document the facilities required for this functionality.
Can anyone provide or point me to information which will help me
reproduce this functionality?  My end goal is to allow DOS applications
to carry on DDE conversations with Windows applications.
