[comp.windows.ms] hDC FirstApps and WindowsExpress; Summary of replies

gaspo@VSSERV.SCRI.FSU.EDU (Scott Gasparian) (07/31/90)

Ok, for all of you who responded about hDC FirstApps and
WindowsExpress, this is the basic responses about each:

FirstApps:
Neat toys. Especially the desktop animator.
However, really scarf up memory, and only work decently
in a 386 with >2megs. Also, very buggy (lots of abnormal
    program termination type errors).

WindowsExpress:
Serious potential replacement for program manager, and
very good if your setting up a system for your less-intelligent
users (thats the only kind I know of :-) ). Allows very specific
customization of folders and associations that are too complicated
    for the PM.

MyViews:
We'll get a copy of WindowsExpress to check out
(only $99 I think) and see if it works okay. Definately
wait on FirstApps though, at least till version > 1.0 comes
    out.

I have no connection with hDC, MicroSoft, etc etc eetc ad nausem.
