[comp.windows.ms] No valid media found for Swapfile

cci8j@harlequin.cs.Virginia.EDU (Carmen C. Iannacone) (08/10/90)

Hello everyone,

I, like many others it seems, held back on getting into the
Windows arena until version 3. This release holds much progress, and
it's turned me from a crotchety fan of the command line into a GUI
proponent. However, also like many others, I went out of my way to
get hardware which would enhance WIN 3 performance. Currently I'm
running a 286/25 clone with 2 40MB MFM HDs and 4 MB RAM.

I would like to have a permanent swap file for WIN 3. I com-
pacted my drives, each of which has 10 MB free, but when I try to install
a Swapfile it reports an error similar to the one mentioned in the
Subject line. Is it something in my Karma? Is it something in my
Config.sys? It has to be one or the other!

But seriously, has anyone experienced this?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

	Carmen

PS: Yes, I was in Real Mode when I attempted to set it up; I followed
the docs, and I even re-installed it last night, all to no avail!
