[comp.windows.ms] Problem with Orchid Pro II 256 color modes in win3

morris@dms.UUCP (Jim Morris) (08/10/90)

I am trying to get the win3 drivers for the new orchid prodesigner II
to work in the 800x600x256 mode, I have 1Mb RAM on the video board.

After discovering that EMMExclude needs to be set, I still get application
errors, or out of memory errors (In enhanced mode).

I have been using a Paradise VGA+16 in 800x600x16 for a while with no problem,
but wanted to upgrade to 256 colors.

Has anyone got the Orchid drivers to work (V3.1 drivers), if so did
you have to set any other "special" settings in the config files other
than emmexclude??

It seems to work in the 16 color modes OK, but the 256 modes occasionally
cause windows apps to give the "Application Error" or out of memory
error messages. BTW I have 8Mb of extended RAM, 6Mb available when the
About Menu is pulled.

Any help or usefull suggestions are appreciated.

PS I have called Orchid Tech support, but They haven't got back to me yet.

	Thanks

	Jim.
