[comp.windows.ms] Inside the SDK...

al1@pnet51.orb.mn.org (Carl Engman) (08/12/90)

I can only answer part of what's in the SDK because I have the last BETA
version (although my order is in for the final release), and the SDK
is at work, so I'll try to recall as much as possible:

The SDK contains the Dialog Editor, Font editor, Heapwalker, SPY,
and an assortment of other tools. Aside from these (and of course
the libraries and includes), the SDK contains a variety of source
code examples (although I found many to be trivial, there is a good
  enough set to be usefull).

Oh yeah, there is also the resource compiler (rc) and the help
  compiler (hc).

I found the documentation less than I hoped. (Recall what I have
is beta). If MS kept essentially the same conents, it was more a list
of functions rather than a real attempt at showing how to use them.

As for C 6.0, aside from the better optimization, etc, 6.0
introduced based pointers and the programmer's workbench. PWB is
a step up but I have to confess I prefer the Turbo environment.
