[comp.windows.ms] How do I create .DLL files?

peter@ecc.tased.oz (08/16/90)

I want to write some C code that accesses an SQL server and loads data directly
into Microsoft Excel. Excel has a couple of macros that allow access to .DLL
files, but I need to be able to create .DLLs, and it appears I need LINK4. Is
this true; if so, how do I get it without buying the entire Windows Dev kit
(FTP? SIMTEL?); do I need to know anything about Windows programming to write
non-Windows code in a DLL?

I have Windows 3.0, MSC 6.0; MASM on order.

Thank you, people.
