[comp.windows.ms] pc paintbrush and windows

hartmann@swbatl.sbc.com (Steve Hartman - 235-0084) (08/16/90)

I am sorry, I am posting this question a second time, but our connection
was down, I'm not sure it went out.

I am trying to pull in a PCX into PC Paintbrush. The PCX is about
650K in size. The error message I receive is there is not enough
room on the C drive. I have removed up about 4M worth of files, giving
me about 8M of free space. Yet I continue to receive the same error message.
File Manager in Windows shows that about 83% of active memory free.
I'm running Windows 3.0 in 386 mode with 2M of RAM and 8M on the C drive.
I will summarize and post any hints and solutions I receive.

This is an elusive problem. What is probably happening is your TEMP drive
doesn't have enough room for TWO copies of the image. Paintbrush has a
bug that incorrectly states which drive it is trying to put the temp files on.
It needs space for two copies: one to edit and one for undo.

Hope this solves the problem.
