[net.auto] 1969 Alpha Duetto for sale

grl@charm.UUCP (George Lake) (10/31/84)

1969 Alpha Romeo Duetto
Excellent mechanical condition:(a real stormer, outperforms all of the
                                    later models I've driven)
New soft top
Factory hard top
Currently fuel injected:(with the 1750 motor, it has the best low end
torque and most pleasing motor sounds)
But I'm also including a set of the European Dual Webers
jetted for the 1750 motor (I've kept them around because
of all the horror stories about Alpha's fuel injection--
            all unfounded in my experience
I've owned the car for 5 years. It has required little maintenance
(after a thorough going over when I first bought it) and given
     immense pleasure.
The body has parking lot dents on three sides. I haven't gotten them
fixed since one worries that a new paint job is hiding more serious
     things.
Offered to a good home at $3500./bo

I'd be a little leery of a seller who doesn't know how to spell the name of
the car. It's ALFA Romeo, the European spelling. It also used to be an
acronym: Annonima Lombardi Fabbrica Automobili

This is true

You must have heard stories about the Porche or BMW mechanical injection
system. The Alfa SPICA system is modification of a diesel injection system
and is dead reliable. Getting 100,000 trouble free miles is common, it will
usually outlast the engine. I personally have 155,000 on mine and I've
never even had to adjust the idle. It still meets factory specs on emmissions
and mixture. All they ask is that you change the filters on time (6000 mi
gas and 12,000 mi oil).

You should talk, Jack. Es ist "P-O-R-S-C-H-E". At least you
spelled BMW right, people around here keep saying "BWM".
BTW, K-Jetronic works just fine, it's just that some people
don't understand it, and they blame problems on the part they
understand the least.
