[comp.windows.ms] Excel upgrade

ccastms@prism.gatech.EDU (Michael Todd Smith) (08/25/90)

I have just upgraded to Win 3.0 but I still have excel 2.0
I hear there is a free Upgrade to Excel if you have upgraded to
Windows. Is this true , if so what is the process?

Thanks.

For those who haven't yet, do the following:

1.	Call Microsoft at their Windows number 1-800-323-3577.
2. Tell them that the details (that is, that you have upgraded
to Win 3.0, but still have an earlier version of Excel --
they will probably ask for some proof or some sort -- unless
	your registration is on file).
3.	Wait 10 days or more. :-)

Current update should be Excel 2.1d. 2.1c was the first Win3
compatible version, but there was a display problem with it (if you
changed the colors of your workspace to just about anything besides
black on white, Excel had problems in displaying your worksheet. 2.1d
is supposed to fix this, I hear).

Oh yes, and I don't think that 800 number works outside of the
continental US.

For us second class citizens in Canada, MS Canada can't/won't comment on
Excel upgrades. They have been announced here yet (but give them a month
or so to catch up with MS USA). Sigh.
