[comp.windows.ms] Printing in color?

paravia@csd4.csd.uwm.edu (Mark David Kakatsch) (09/04/90)

Is it possible to print .BMP files, or .GIF files, or any files, for that
matter, in color from Windows 3? I've got a Citizen GSX-140 w/ the color
option, so I've tried setting it up as an Epson LQ-2500/2550 w/ the color box
clicked on, and as an IBM color printer. When I go to print a color .BMP from
Paintbrush, it just prints it out in B/W. I rather like this printer, and it
would be a pity if it wasn't possible to print anything in color from Windows.
(Which should be untrue, as they do include color printer drivers...)

Thanks much...

Mark

[stuff deleted about can't print color .BMPs in Paintbrush to Epson]

Paintbrush 3.0 can only print color on printers that support DIBs. The
only ones I know of that fall in this category are the PostScript printer
and the HP DeskJet (or whatever their ink jet color printer is called.)
If you can get an updated driver from your printer vendor that supports
DIBs you'll be in business.
