I have been using QEMM 5.1 for about a week now and everything that has been written about it appears to be true. I have a DOS shell with 597K outside of Windows and 571K inside Windows. QEMM 5.1 seemed to solve the RAM cram problem in a Windows environment. Unfortunately, I also purchased hDC's FirstApps and decide to use Memory Viewer to understand my Windows memory utilization. The "problem" is that I can not account for 528K of additional memory utilization when using Windows with QEMM 5.1 installed. This memory is "base DOS" memory inside Windows and is not swappable. The calculation goes as follows: 1. hDC reports 370K of "DOS" usage inside Windows with HIMEM.SYS, no SMARTDRIVE, and my normal drivers and TSRs. 2. hDC reports with same number as 1090K with QEMM 5.1 and and no SMARTDRIVE. 192K of this is actually QEMM tables, code, maps, etc as reported by Manifest. In both cases, the same drivers and TSRs were loaded. LOADHI was NOT used. (I only have about 26K of stuff that can be loaded to high RAM) 1090K -370K -192K ------ 528K Has anybody else looked at this or have any ideas? Scott Ksander Purdue University Computing Center
