I have a Logitech serial mouse connected and the only problem was when I initially setup windows 3.0. I had the Logitech mouse driver loaded in my config.sys file and windows would hang whenever I tried to run in enchanced mode. Once I took the mouse driver out of my config.sys file and used the windows 3.0 supplied driver all worked well. NOTE that when you run the inital install of windows make sure that windows actually identfies the mouse as a Logitech mouse and not as something else (ie Mouse Systems). If possible try removing all other boards in your system to a bare minimum and see what happens. This should be something like floppy/hard disk controller, a serial port card, video card and memory. Take out ALL other cards not ABSOLUTELY required, as you may have an IRQ conflict or buss loading problem. If the mouse still doesn't work try and borrow another serial card, and mouse and try them in your system or take your serail card and mouse to a system that is already running windows 3.0 and see if you have the SAME problems. If the serial card and mouse work on the other system you should look further into what may be causing problems in your PC. Be aware that may of the OLDER 386 PC's may have the earlier 386 chips in them that had problems running in protected mode. If the chip in your machine is a 386 and not a 386-DX then you may have to get a new 386 chip to run reliably in enhanced mode. Linas Petras "Usual disclaimers of course !!!!"
