The latest news from the front lines: Finally got Windows 3.0 to stop lying to my older non-Windows apps about available video (it was telling them I had a CGA system) by locking down my Autoswitch EGA card in EGA mode (i.e., disabling the Autoswitch feature). Now Norton 4.5 recognizes my EGA, and First Publisher comes up in EGA mode, and (at last!) Word 5.0 runs under Win3 in 386 enhanced mode. Hurray? NOT QUITE YET, GRINGO! First Publisher and Word both come up, all right -- but *without access to the mouse*! Win3 keeps the mouse all to itself, when an app is running in a window, for selecting areas to cut to the clipboard, opening the control panel, etc. And when the app is running full-screen, why then THE MOUSE ISN'T THERE AT ALL. Just a good ol' brand-new MS serial mouse -- came with the Windows program, in fact -- running on COM1 under the MOUSE.COM program installed at bootup from the autoexec. Can you beat that! Today's question: Anybody got a fix for *this* one?
