Yes, it is called WINDOWS ! You set printer to be postscript-printer, and
set that output will go to file. Then when you select Print from WRITE, it
will ask the name for postscript file.

I did the same thing with Word for Windows. All you have to do is tell Windows that you have a PostScript printer, like an Apple NTX or something, then send the output to a file. You may have to go into your win.ini file, and in the list of printer ports (LPT1,...), add OUTPUT.PS. When you install the PostScript printer, tell Windows that it is attached to "OUTPUT.PS". Then when you go to print your document, select the PostScript printer, and it will generate PostScript output and place it in the file OUTPUT.PS. It works great with my old Windows286 v2.1. Now that I have Windows 3, I am able to specify "FILE" when installing the printer, and when I print, it asks me for a file name. No messing with the win.ini (with v3). Obviously the disadvantage with the older Windows is that you have to rename a previous output before printing a new document, or it will be overwritten. But the benefits easily outweigh the disadvantages, since you don't have to actually go out and buy a $5000 printer, if you know where to find one that you can borrow! I just thought of something, though. You ask of a way to convert the .wri output to PostScript. I assumed that you had Windows and Write. If you just have the .wri files, and not the actual Windows/Write application, this is of no help to you! Kerry Person kperson@plains.NoDak.edu

You don't need no program. Just install the postscript printer driver supplied with Windows. Then, print out to a file. Presto ! Regards, ## Life is fast enough as it is ........ Peter Lim. ## ....
