Hello everybody, I noticed quite serious bug in Screen Peace v 1.2 -screen saver program. I am using IBM ps2m 70 win3 in 386 mode. When you have Screen Peace on use (as icon downstairs) open file- manager and do NOT insert diskette to drive A . Then click drive-A "icon" you'll get message System error... Can not read from drive A - that is normal. But next is more serious. If you click Cancel-button TILT... you are thrown out and power switch is only you can use. The example was harmful, but same thing happens if you are using WFW, WRITE etc. and do same kind of disk I/O handling. After one hour typing that may test your nerves. I like Screen Peace program and its "registration" idea. I hope wi get fixed version really soon...

Using Windows 3.0 in 386 mode and Screenpeace 1.2 I could not reproduce this bug, everything works correctly. Have you looked for other possible reasons? I have had that problem also. I was running Screen Peace and when in the File Mgr. if I chose A: or B: and didn't have a disk in that drive, I would get the warning message from the F.M. and whether I chose Cancel or Retry, I would be tossed out of windows and would have to perform a cold boot (on/off switch). However, if I were to place a disk into the drive in question, and choose Retry, I would continue on as normal. I'm not sure if it was screen peace or the F.M., but one or the other is being awfully naughty. On to another issue, and the reason I can't use screen peace right now (I can live with the above), it seems that screen peace takes over complete control of windows when activated. The problem in question: when downloading files from my school's VAX system via a modem using the Terminal program, once Screen Peace is activated either instantly or through no keyboard activity (it was late one night and I didn't feel like working on anything else, not even Solitaire!), the downloading would cease. I mean, no data would come through my modem at all. I've also noticed that this happens when printing to my HP LJIII or IBM Proprinter (cough, cough) and using the Print Manager to buffer the process. The Print Manager will stop running, all disk activity will stop. As I said before, I thought it was something I had done and I am still testing to see if any of my other programs cause this problem. FYI, I'm running Windows 3.0 on and IBM PS/2 Model 80 (300MB HD), I have a HD 3.5" and an external 5.25" HD floppy. The only memory resident software loaded before windows is a virus scanning package (VSHEILD from McAffee (sp?) Assoc., I sent MY registration form and money in, did you), a driver for the 5.25" external from PROCOMM (not the telecomm folks), and MIRROR from PCTOOLS. They are loaded in the following order: Mirror, Vshield and Fdriver. I have had the problems whether running multiple windows based programs or only one windows based program. I have not tried to recreate it using DOS programs and time slicing, but I'll try. Howard Lymor (my views are my own, not that I want them anyway!)

I just tried it as well, but no failure ... system continued on its merry way. There are probably additional sensitivities in either FM, SP of both to other "external" influences, that would justify failure (or none) on that particular system ... in my case I have paradise VGA, Lanier 386-16, Logitech serial trackman and two active serial ports ... leoh@hdw.csd.harris.com Leo Hinds (305)973-5229 Gfx ... gfx ... :-) whfg orpnhfr V "ebg"grq zl fvtangher svyr lbh guvax V nz n creireg ?!!!!!!? ... znlor arkg gvzr

While printing a long document using Word for Windows the screen would blank (screenpeace) and it would stop printing. I'd try getting a newer version of Windows (I may have been running 3.0, it was a while ago, but I can't remember), a newer version of screenpeace, or get rid of screenpeace and turn your monitor off/dim it when leaving it alone.
