This is a Call for Discussion on creating comp.windows.ms.programmer. NAME: comp.windows.ms.programmer TYPE: Unmoderated PURPOSE: To provide an area for discussion about development for the Microsoft Windows environment, including discussion of development tools such as Windows SDK, Actor and Commonview. BACKGROUND: Originally, comp.windows.ms was a programmer-oriented group, but after the introduction of Windows 3.0, the group has been dominated by both general Windows discussion as well as articles related to Windows installation and video drivers. As it is now almost four months after the 3.0 introduction, and MS-Windows is the best-selling piece of software on this planet, the non-programming topics are unlikely to disappear. The current volume in comp.windows.ms is approximately 250 articles per week. DISCUSSION: The discussion period will be 15 - 30 September, 1990. VOTING: If the discussion supports this newsgroup, a vote will be taken in October. A Call for Votes will be posted at that time. DO NOT SEND VOTES NOW! I agree that there is now enough traffic that splitting out the development issues to a separate group is in order. -- Bob Goodearl -- goodearl@world.std.com
