I've been running Win3 now for a month, and been putting up with a problem I'd now like to try solving: I *often* get trash on the screen with Windows applications. I'm using the CompuAdd OEM of the Paradise 16+ VGA in 800x 600 mode (and using CompuAdd's drivers from their BBS), and a Mitsubishi DiamondScan monitor, on a 286 12MHz. I've tried installing the drivers in several different ways, and I'm pretty sure it's now as correct as I can get it without some help. The trash is in the form of colored, dashed lines (usually horizontal), and little pieces (usually rectangular) of "fuzz." Even ScreenPeace and Magic leave little trashy dots when they do their thing. (BTW, I've tried everything in standard 640x480, and it's worse.) I'm pretty sure the problem is not with the graphics board, since not a single application besides Windows gives me any problems. I'm not running any TSRs. Does anyone else have any experience with CompuAdd or their drivers? Finally, I'll mention that my BIOS is a little ... mature. Norton SI says it's dated January 13, 1988; it's the AMI 286 bios. Could this be my problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If people e-mail responses, I'll post a summary. Thank you VERY much; I REALLY want to get rid of the trash (I'm amazed at how much it's starting to bug me!). Timothy Moy tdmoy@tybalt.caltech.edu
