I have a problem with an expert system shell that I am running under W 3. I would like to be able to call an external function that uses a proprietary DOS-Extender that conforms to VCPI specs. Obviously I cant do this since W 3 doesnt support VCPI. The questions I have are these: 1) Maybe this has come up before but why is VCPI not supported. I guess that the main drawback of VCPI is that it doesnt prevent an application from crashing the system when switching between applications? 2) Will the next version of Windows include DPMI with the ability to run 386 specific applications conforming to this standard? 3) How stuck am I right now with this. I know DesqView can run windows applications and it supports VCPI. For the time being (until the arrival of some DOS extension support standard), is it possible to run this under DesqView or will I run into the same problem since I will still be making a call from a Windows-based application? Any help on this is greatly appreciated!! Jim Ascough ascough@pasture.ecn.purdue.edu -----> 317-494-8691 AGEN Dept., AGEN Bldg. Purdue University West Lafayette, In 47907
