The Players: Poor ol' little ol' me... NEC PowerMate 386/20 110MB SCSI drive with "SCSI Enabler" card from Procom No Winchester hard disk or controller 1.44MB floppy in A:, 1.2MB in B: (and yet, the CMOS is configged!) 640k, 1MB extended RAM Windows 3.0 Vega VGA board (256k) Serial Board The Scene: Windows gets booted in Enhanced Mode and everything runs beatifully. Swaps go fine, even bouncing in and out of DOS. Then, when I try to do something with A:, the machine will (at random) all of a sudden clear the screen and go to text mode (as evidenced by the cursor). There are several hard disk hits, like it's going to swap or something. Every time I hit a key, I get more hard disk hits. A couple days ago, I tried to install ToolBook via the FileManager. After swapping disks, I get the interesting error of illegal disk swap. I tried using SHARE, and everything installed okay, so I thought my lockup problem was solved. But, it happened the next time I tried to access a floppy. Any ideas? -- Todd Day | todd@ivucsb.sba.ca.us | ucsbcsl!ivucsb!todd It's not a matter of winning or losing...
