So basically, what people seem to be saying is that if you have a 286 machine, you're sh*t out of luck trying to stick certain size bitmaps on your screen background. Hmmm. I have the 800x600x16 Trident driver installed, and found that I couldn't stick chess.bmp on my background. Bad. A couple of questions: (1) What does it take to get a DOS app, either graphical or text, to run in a window instead of running full screen? I never had problems doing this under Windows 2.3. Now all my text apps insist on running full screen. (2) Is there a 640x400x256 Trident driver available? My Trident card only has 256 K of RAM, so I am limited to either the 800x600x16 mode, or the 640x400x256 mode. I need 512 K if I want the extra 80 pixels of vertical resolution in 256 colors! I'd like to try running in 256 colors just to see what it's like, and yet no one saw fit to write a 640x400x256 driver for those of us with only 256 K! Thanks... -- Robert P. I had the same problem when loading a bitmap, and I have 8M of memory. The solution that worked was to select the center key instead of tile under the .bmp file selection. It seemed to work fine after that. Good Luck.
