[comp.windows.ms] "Standard" file-opening dialog box

jseidman@jarthur.Claremont.EDU (James Seidman) (10/14/90)

As I'm sure most SDK users have noticed, the file opening dialog box which
is in all the sample apps of the SDK is lame. I would have thought that
MS would have given better code for that so that everyone's dialog box would
look the same, maintaining a common interface, but they didn't. (However,
they could have at least debugged the code the gave us. Go to "Save as..."
and enter a filename with a path. Then go back to to the open menu. The
path is now screwed up, and no files are listed in the listbox. This
happens, in FILEOPEN, EDITFILE, etc.)

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had implemented a dialog box like the one
implemented in Paintbrush, Notepad, etc. I could do it myself, but I see no
point in reinventing the wheel. If you have, could I convince you to
mail/make available for ftp/post the appropriate .dlg, .rc, .c, .h, etc.
files? (In return, I'll give you a copy of the program I'm working on when
I finish without trying to extort the shareware fee. :)

Thanks very much in advance!
