I need a response from anyone and everyone out there who is running or has tried to run Fractint-for-Windows with a Windows 1024x768x16 video driver. I have gotten a raft of comments from reliable sources that FFW generates its images in "the wrong place" (apparantly 2/3 down the screen, regardless of where its window was opened) in that mode with their ATI adapter. These same people tell me that FFW works just fine with every *other* Windows setup for their ATI, like 800x600x16, and that no other program messes up like this in their 1024x768x16 mode. Also, several other people tell me that FFW works just fine in 1024x768x16 mode with their non-ATI adapters. It works fine on my 8514A setup in 1024x768x256 mode. Confusion reigns. Could everyone who has run FFW in 1024x768x16 mode please send me E-mail telling me 1) what adapter you are using and 2) whether it works? I'll summarize to the net. For the record, FFW uses the 'SetDIBitsToDevice()' call to update the image. I do my own clipping when I'm not updating the entire image, but I *don't* do anything (that I'm aware of) that should be writing the image in the wrong place! ------ Side note: this is independent of the (now known) bug in version 1.0 that saves 256-color images correctly, but reloads the GIF file incorrectly as a 16-color image. Oops. Bert Tyler bert@helix.nih.gov bert@nihcu.bitnet 73477.433@compuserve.com ...and a host of other places...
