Situation: 386, ATlike clone, with 4MB memory. Microsoft serial mouse. Windows 3.0 working fine, but I want a swap file. ATI VGA almost wonder (OEM version) no special drivers. Soo.. Clean out trash in the system partition, move somenon windows examples, stand alone utils for VGA to another partition leaving 10MB available, scattered across partition. Run Norton V5 to compress other partitions, all is fine (and smartdrive was running (oops)) but the D and E partitions check out after compress. Run NORTON 5 on system disk and reboot. Reboots ok, things work, EXCEPT WINDOWS. WIN/R to create swap file comes up with no mouse pointer displayed. But if I move the mouse randomly and click (or drag) things happen to the windows, menues pop, etc. Delete ALL of windows, and reinstall. SETUP does not display mous in second part of install. Now, note: ALL of my other mouse software (Sierra, Turbo and some random stuff) both respond to and display the mouse. Windows, after full reinstall of WINDOWS 3 STILL DOES NOT though it is predictable in keyboard mode.
