Ok, I think I've got the problem with Wincomm isoloated.
Wincomm, no matter how many lines you give it thinks
it has the dimensions: 24 x 80
I have faked the response to the resize command (which by the
way is esc[#;#]R where esc is the escape character,
the first # is the number of rows, and the
second is the number of columns.
and have told the system that I have 10 rows (no I really don't)
Vi then displays 10 lines and the rest is blank (correct response)
However, if I move down to where it should scroll, it doesn't
(Wincomm just displays the next line below the last one (incorrect
response). So, when I set the screen size to larger then 24 rows,
Wincomm will display the first 24 and scrolls any remaining lines.
Therefore, it seems like Wincomm has fixed screen dimensions.
Next, I would have thought that giving vi the correct size screen
would have made it possible to scroll with the arrow keys. However,
it didn't. I can scroll with the j and k keys. Hence I looked for
another symptom! Here it is: when I enter vi, my numlock key
changes state. (I believe it's on normally) So when I enter
vi -- the light goes on -- when I leave, it goes off. NEAT! --
but I think it may point to the problem. Anyone else have the
same effects?
