[comp.windows.ms] Problem with Win3 and Word Perfect 5.1

tim@watson.bcm.tmc.edu (Timothy Owen Lesniak) (10/27/90)

When I run Word Perfect 5.1 (full screen mode) from Windows,
everything works fine EXCEPT that I cannot read drive a: or b:
from Word Perfect, i.e. I cannot load a document into WP from
a floppy. There is no problem accessing drive c:.

The message WP gives when it attemps to list or load in files from
a: or b: is "Drive not ready 1. Retry 2. Cancel".
When it attempts to read the disk, the disk light flickers several
times.

The same thing happens when I run WP51 from the Windows DOS shell.
This problem does not occur when I run WP51 from DOS.

I have a Northgate 320 Slimline (386, 20MHz). Drive a: is a 5 1/4"
floppy and b: is a 3 1/2".

If anyone has heard of or experienced a similar problem and/or
knows of a solution, please let me know.

Thanks,
