I recently downloaded LAYOUT from CICA.CICA.INDIANA.EDU. It seems to do what it says it will do (store window positions and sizes for later recall). I ran into a "feature" and a lack-of-feature which might need to receive some attention. If an application is loaded but reduced to an icon LAYOUT will move the icon to the stored position as if it were a window. This feature is more evident when applied to CLOCK.EXE, LAYOUT actually resizes the CLOCK.EXE icon to the stored size (sans menu bar). In either case, the icon's title remains where it was and when clicked upon will offer a control menu. The lack-of-feature entails integrating LAYOUT with program manager. I would like to be able to replace the command line under FILE PROPERTIES with a LAYOUT *.LAY file and have LAYOUT load/run the application along with the appropriate *.LAY stored size and position attributes. Currently, if this is attempted LAYOUT simply notes the lack of a loaded application and terminates. Any suggestions? Anyone associated with LAYOUT on USENET? Any other users with experience using LAYOUT? Are there any comparable utilities which provide these features? thanks in advance barry
