I just bought a Plus Hardcard II XL 105 last week, and am having troubles getting it to work with Windows 3.0 in 386-enhanced mode. Win 3 will read the directories ok, but if you try to load a program via an icon in Program Manager, or via File Manager, the disk will hang, and eventually you will get a message like "Application cannot be run" or "Cannot read drive F:" with a Cancel/Retry dialog box. If I get the second message, the machine is locked, and I have to reboot to clear the condition. If I run PC Tools 6.0, and select the Hard Card's drives, it will lock up after a couple of operations, and force a terminate or a reboot. These problems do not occur under DOS, or under Win 3 in standard mode. I have VirtualHDIrq=off and EMMExclude=C800-C9FF specified in my SYSTEM.INI. I have tried every permutation of the devices in my CONFIG.SYS, and removed just about everything in my AUTOEXEC.BAT and still have the problem. I also checked the switches on the Hard Card to verify that they were set correctly, and looked at the bios area with Debug to verify that the bios is in the correct location. Does anyone have this drive working under Win 3 386-enhanced mode, or have any suggestions as to what the problem is? I have contacted Plus Development, but they don't have any answers. My PC is a Leading Edge D3 386/16 with 4MB of RAM, and a Mitsubishi MR-535 65MB RLL drive, with a WD1006V-SR1 controller. It has an ATI VGA Wonder card, and a Logitech Serial Mouse. Also, a Kraft Game Card. Al Shing (al_k_shing@cup.portal.com)
