I've been running 3.0 for some time on a 25 MHz 386 clone. The other day when I tried to start windows the windows logo appeared as usual, but then I received a blank screen with a blinking cursor. It would not respond to any input from the keyboard or mouse. I reinstalled windows from scratch and it appeared to install correctly, but when I rebooted I had the same result as before. It is frustrating since there is no error messages or other clues. Has anybody got any clues? Don Chamberlain amdahl!key!donc@juts

If you are using 4dos, or another application which gives you long path statements, this can cause the problem (it did for me!). Try cutting your path to less than 128 characters, Windows simply can't handle more. Interestingly, sometimes I got windows to work with longer paths, but certain programs, like Setup, still refused to run, and just crashed. Microsoft would say it was my fault. :) oh Well. Joel
