[comp.windows.ms] MS WFW demo trashes Program Manager groups!

nxh@meaddata.com (Nobuya "Higgy" Higashiyama) (11/09/90)

Has this happened to you?

I ordered the free working model of WFW from Microsoft. I got it in a few
weeks, and proceeded to install it as described. Lo and behold, it proceeded
to delete all .GRP files so that only WFW demo .GRP file was left! It took me
about 30 minutes to restore all the program groups just the way I had it before
(I know, I know, I should have backed up regularly).

So, if you're planning on checking out their working models, be sure to back up
your /WINDOWS directory before installing it. Just a friendly warning ...

It may be something else in your PC...we've been installing the WFW demo
all over the place here with no problems at all.

Funny, I got the Project for Windows demo and have loaded it on two
different machines and didn't have any such trouble (no trouble, in fact).
