I am vaguely aware of a past or present bug in the interaction of
(I believe) Windows 3.0, Disk Manager, and hard drives with more than
1024 cylinders. The rumored effect involves significant data loss.
I would like to know whether this bug still exists, and how to
identify/avoid a potentially dangerous configuration. If the bug
has been fixed, please indicate which revisions/dates of the involved
programs are safe.
I did not find this question addressed in the faq list. Perhaps it
would be valuable to include it.
