[comp.windows.ms] need to synchronize PC to Sun over TCP/IP

steve@grian.cps.altadena.ca.us (Steve Mitchell) (11/13/90)

I'm running a PClone/386 diskless using Excelan TCP/IP and Beame &
Whiteside NFS over an Ethernet. Quite often when attempting to save a
file my word processor complains that someone has modified a file it
is editing. I've been told by Carl Beame (our NFS vendor) the problem
is that the clocks on the PClone and the Sun fileserver are out of
synch. Since both clocks drift, and at different rates, I'm looking
for a program which can be run by the PClone at boot to query the Sun
for its time, and then set the local clock accordingly. Is there such
a program? Is there a public domain version? If so, where can it be
found?

Please email any replies, as I can't cover all these groups very
often.

Thanks to all for your help.
