[comp.windows.ms] CorelDraw and Typefoundry - what can I do with them?

timur@seas.gwu.edu (The Time Traveler) (11/13/90)

I have CorelDraw, and I was wondering what I can do with the WFN-Boss
program that came with it. I can make ZSoft Type Foundry fonts from the
CorelDraw .WFN files. What can I do with these fonts? Can I convert
them to postscript fonts? Can I install them as screen fonts into
Windows 3.0? What is ZSoft Type Foundry, anyway?

Yes, you can create PostScript, HP LaserJet, and Windows screen fonts
(also Ventura/GEM screen fonts) with Publisher's Type Foundry. WFNBoss
creates OTL files that can be used with PTF and also with ZSoft's other
font product, SoftType. If you don't want to create fonts from scratch,
get SoftType: it comes with ~60 URW fonts and the ability to stretch,
slant, shadow, outline and otherwise screw around with both the URW
font outlines and the OTL files created by PTF and Corel. SoftType
also creates Postscript, HPLJ, Windows GDI (screen and dot-matrix
printer) and Ventura screen fonts and metric files. DeskJet support
is promised soon.

PTF does not yet run under Windows 3.0 very well. SoftType does.

Hope this helps.
