[comp.windows.ms] Can you duplicate this WfW bug?

a752@mindlink.UUCP (Bruce Dunn) (11/16/90)

I have a bug which I can consistently generate on my system when using
Word for Windows. I would appreciate it if other people could try to duplicate
the problem and E-mail me. If anyone else has the problem it probably
represents a subtle bug, rather than a quirk of my system.

1) Run Word for Windows, accepting the default page setup

2) Change View mode to Page

3) Format the document so that the right and left page margin boxes contain [1
] and [1 ] rather than the standard startup
settings of [1.25"] and [1.25"]. Click on ok to accept these settings (no
error so far, WfW apparently accepts the number 1 as being 1 of whatever
default unit you are using, which is inches unless you have changed it).

4) On your (still) blank document, press page up to see the very top of the
page, then page down. Repeat a couple of times.

Result: An unrecoverable application error.

If anyone else duplicates this bug, E-mail me and I will collect
responses, post a summary, and contact Microsoft.
If responding, please indicate whether WfW 1.0 or 1.1, and details of
computer, Windows mode, and display.
