Hi netters. I'm a new MS Windows user who is trying to get WinVN to work on Windows 3.0. I downloaded WinVN program (Windows counter- part of the Unix's vnews program) from cica.cica.indiana.edu. The problem I had is whenever I start the program, it gave me the error saying something like, "BuildComm return -1," and then nothing worked. My win.ini file has a part that looks like the following: CommString=COM1,24,8,1 (something like that) UseSocket=0 NNTPIPAddr=128.138.238.18 I don't have TPC/IP card, just a 2400 baud modem connected to COM1. I followed the instruction in the documentation, logged in my Unix host, issued the command: telnet 128.138.238.18 119 and then exit Telix without hanging up, and finally ran WinVN. The program still gave me the same error. Does anyone have any experience on this subject to help me out? I appreciate every comments. Please reply to me to the following E-mail address: vu@snoopy.colorado.edu Thanks for your time. Vu~ Tua^'n Ha?i ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
