[comp.windows.ms] HIMEM.SYS bug?

cramer@optilink.UUCP (Clayton Cramer) (11/21/90)

I received my Windows 3 upgrade, and installed it on my Club AT
10 Mhz AT-clone. Everything went perfectly EXCEPT that:

1. The SMARTDRV.SYS driver locks up the system when it is installed
at bootup time.

2. Changing to the HIMEM.SYS driver that comes with Windows 2.1
solves the lock up problem with SMARTDRV.SYS.

3. But, using the Windows 2.1 HIMEM.SYS driver with the Windows
3 SMARTDRV.SYS driver causes the system to reboot everytime.

So, I have turned off both HIMEM.SYS and SMARTDRV.SYS. They
aren't necessary, but they would certainly be nice to have working.
Does anyone know of a bug involving the Club AT systems? (These
use, I think, Everex motherboards).
