I'm thinking of setting up a network using a Sun as a server for a group of PC's on ethernet. Does somebody have any experience doing something similar to this? What problems have you run into? Is it a good way to go? Should I consider using a Novell server instead? Would it be more cost effective to buy a 386 or 486 and run Xenix/Unix on it instead of buying a Sun? I'm leaning towards a Unix type machine because I'd like email and uucp as well as ftp services. Thanks for any info. Please mail and I'll summarize. I would like to suggest a section on Win3 and NFS be added to the FAQ document. (I am aware that there are various flavors of NFS, perhaps a separate "Win3 and NFS" document is needed to explain all of the subtleties.) This seems to be a common topic, and most UNIX oriented people at our site have not seemed too interested in delvining into the subtleties of a complex, DOS-related product. :-) Tom Rombouts Torrance Techie tomr@ashtate.A-T.com V:(213)538-7108
