Well I am convinced that Microsoft Word for Windows and Micrografx Designer have bugs! I can get word to crash about 90% of the time when I mess with the table of contents, specifically when I at first put stupid values in for the settings. Sure, I shouldn't have, but the program should not crash because of bad settings, come on now! And designer...I have used it for 2 years and loved it. However, I have been using it steadily for 2 months now with word and copies from designer followed by pastes to word fail most of the time. Pastes from other applications to word are ok!@!@!@$# I called microsoft but got tired of waiting. That brings the total time on hold to about 2.5 hours...and I have yet to get through! I called micrografx and they said the bug is not fixed. They said a version 3.02 is available for $40.00! but that is was a internal cosmetic upgrade and would not help me at all. My conclusion, I will continue to use both and get the patches (Hint, I see patches as being free and upgrades as costing). I also think that windows 3.0 is the biggest bandwagon that I have ever seen. It is supposed to be so greatly tested! But transitivity does not apply to any useful application developed for it. Oh well, enough complaining, got work to do.

I checked with a colleague who has also been having problems with WFW and Designer, and this was his comment:- The Micrographx Designer - WFW problem is all Designer's doing. It has to do with the inclusion of text in the drawing. If you copy the drawing to clipboard and try to display the clipboard in PIC format, then Clipboard, and usually Win3, hang. Take the text out and the copy-paste works to WFW. Apparently WFW gets the clipboard in PIC format and that is what causes WFW to hang. When I talked to Micrographx, they told me that 3.02 solved this problem. So who is right? Good question, is the bug fixed with 3.02 or isn't it? - Geoff Coupe, SIPM EPD/74

I recently purchased the Designer 3.02 upgrade. I had been using Designer 3.01 with Windows 3.0 and WFW 3.1, and pasting from Designer to WFW failed big-time. Since the 3.02 upgrade, pasting works fine, including pasting mixed text and graphics. Designer seems to run faster, too. - Usual disclaimers apply. This is my personal opinion.
