Hi. I'm posting this here because I don't receive comp.windows.ms.programmer at my site. I wish to start developing my own Windows applications. I want to use MS C 6.0 and the SDK, but I don't want to spend a ton of money. I think I have seen posts stating that the SDK was available for around $150 with the educational discount from Microsoft. My university's store is asking $279 for it, and they say this is the price with the discount. Is that correct? Does anyone have Microsoft's number that I could call for pricing info? What is a good price for MS C 6.0? Is there an educational discount available for it? Are there any more cost-effective ways to develop for Windows (i.e. a different compiler that works, but is less expensive)? Are there any good books on developing applications in Windows? Thanks a lot for your help, Bryon Daly, ECE grad student at large daly@ecs.umass.edu --- I tried to speak for my employers, but they told me to shut up!

I too am interested in knowing of any educational discount on the SDK. Thanks. Sean esparham@uiuc.edu Disclaimer: I hate disclaimers.
