[comp.windows.ms] Word for Windows graphics?

kluksdah@hpspcoi.HP.COM (Keith Kluksdahl) (12/07/90)

I'm running Word for Windows 1.0 on Windows 3.0. I'm having problems
importing graphics. Everytime I import a TIF file, I get a field
statement, not a display. There's no way to format the picture.
If I select "New Picture", I get a blank frame, which I can format,
but can't put a picture into. Any hints?

Thanks

Never mind. I figured it out. As long as the "show all" button
was activated (the asterisk on the ribbon), no graphics would be
displayed.

Learning was never so much fun. I think I'm getting the hang of
this word processor. But I need more power. If I dropped in a
427 with dual quad carbs, headers, and even a blower. No... wait.
That was high school. Now it's computers. Oh well.

If you mean that you get something that looks like:

{IMPORT C:\\PICTURES\\SAILBOAT.GIF\}

then you simply need to toggle the view field codes option, also you
want draft view off, page view off, and show all (which is the * button in
the ribbon) off.

Have you tried printing the file as it is, after you import the graphic?

If the name of the file you were trying to import is not in the field,
then you have some other problem....
