[comp.windows.ms] Microsoft Entertainment Pack

Renee@cup.portal.com (Renee Linda Roberts) (10/25/90)

I got a present in the mail from Microsoft! The Microsoft Entertainment
Pack will be available by the end of October. It has a variety of games,
including Tetris, Tic-Tactics (A 3-D Tic-Tac-Toe), Golf, Taipei, etc.

It runs without any problems, and I am finding it rather addicting! When it
comes out, get it! You will enjoy it!

I have and I have found Minesweeper to be the most addicting. I have found
one problem. When I play Minesweeper I tend to hit the F2 key and start
clicking alot of squares before the screen is redrawn ( I hope for a good
start). Every so often the mouse gets in a weird mode where it starts
popping the pointer all over the screen. I have to completely exit Win3
to fixe the problem.

I remember a couple of people talking about this package a while back
but haven't noticed more than that. Has anyone else bought it? I just
got it, and thought that I'd mention my reaction to it.

It's got eight pieces:

Tetris - yes, another one. It's got real pretty colors and stuff,
but is just another version. It's interesting that the printed
box does not mention this, but it IS mentioned on a nice big
round red sticker on the front of the box.
Taipei - something like solitaire mah-jong - haven't played it yet
        (just got this Friday)
Minesweeper - fun and somewhat of a logic challenge
TicTactics - tic-tac-toe in several dimensions, not a GREAT challenge
unless you're a real lover of multi-level TTT
Golf - another solitaire game - pretty good
Cruel - and yet another solitaire game - also pretty good
Pegged - move the pegs around to leave just one - okay
IdleWild - Screen blanker - while this is not interactive, it's my
favorite part of the package! They've done some clever things
in this, beyond the fireworks and dancing lines. The screen gets
rearranged like one of those number puzzles, or slowly comes apart,
or... Well, I like sitting and watching it!

So, if you're into solitaire games (I confess that I find myself playing
over and over), or if there are some younger people around who like just
using the computer, it's a good package. I'm not sorry I bought it, and
in the long run it'll probably give me more pleasure than yet another
adventure game (since I get bored with them too quickly).
