The first car I owned was a 2CV, in London, and I loved it! Sure it had as much oomph as a tricycle, but it was cheap, ran forever on a gallon of petrol, was easy to park, turned on a sixpence - just perfect for city driving. It was, however, a French left-hand-drive model, so every time I turned a corner in right-hand-drive England, I found myself on the wrong side of the street - a confusion worse confounded after I got used to it and then moved to the U.S! -- Rod Williams dual!ptsfa!ptsfc!rjw "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so"

You can see a 2CV in the movie "American Graffitti". The main character has one... that does not start when he wants to follow a blond girl in a white car (not a 2CV this one). This is quite nasty. Indeed, a 2CV is not fast, is not luxurious (far from that), but it is reliable (at least the one I was driving sometimes ago). A good point also is that it is very light. You can go off the road easily. Something funny: it is not possible to lock the hood. Thus, to avoid some bad guys to still your battery (for the electric railroad of their kids), when parking, you have to put a chain, between air holes in the hood and the bumper! Indeed, it looks like a tricycle. -- Pascal Traverse UCLA Computer Science Department 3732 Boelter Hall // Los Angeles, CA 90024 // (213) 825-4885 ARPA: trav@UCLA-LOCUS.ARPA UUCP: ...!{cepu,ihnp4,trwspp,ucbvax}!ucla-cs!trav
