Until recently, I was like most PC users and had all the files from my MSDOS (in my case 3.3) on my hard drive. I recently have run into space problems, and took a good look at whether these files were really necessary. It turns out that the only files that I need to actually run Windows are command.com and mode.com (the latter because I use a mode command to set up my printer in my autoexec.bat file). The various routine disk and file maintenance procedures are carried out by Windows programs. Removing the MSDOS files gave about half a megabyte of extra disk space. Of course, I have the relevant files on a floppy if I ever need any of them. -- Bruce Dunn Vancouver, Canada a752@mindlink.UUCP
