What are "Free System Resources" in the "about" box for the Program Manager? I have a situation where I have 12 MB of real memory, an 8MB perm. swap file, and the "about" box shows 11.5MB of free memory (8 MB swap + 3.5 MB real) and 3% Free System Resources. Trying to bring up Excel gives an "out of memory" type message. I assume this really means "out of System Resources". What are they and how do I get more? (The above "in use" and "free" memory numbers are also confirmed via HDC's Memory Viewer) Any ideas?? Scott Ksander Purdue University Computing Center ksander@purdue.edu

I had the same problem and discovered this by trial and error. Also, some more knowledgeable person gave a detailed discussion of what "system resources" are about a month ago (on this newsgroup, I think). -- Brad Hines Internet: brad@huey.jpl.nasa.gov JPL 169-214 4800 Oak Grove Drive Pasadena, CA 91107 USA 818-354-2465
