For the second time since I bought my car, I have had a sudden drop
in mileage after fulling up. I've had the car for 4.5 years, it is
a Mustang II 2.3 litre 4 cyl. 4spd., 1974.
The problem: After filling up while driving on the freeway I notice
that I can *watch* the gas guage drop, even in a matter of 2 or 3 miles.
I have a 13 gallen tank. The last time it happened was this weekend
when I was about 300 miles from home. After 'loosing' 25%+ of a tankful,
I filled it again, and as the first time, it went away. I've ruled out
electrical or guage problems, there was no erractic behavior from the
other guages, and the gas *was* gone. Has anyone had a similar experience
with a Mustang II or Pinto, or heard of it? Any idea of a cause? Please
answer via email, as I am 1000 articles behind in my reading.
Thanks in advance.
