[comp.windows.ms] Please Forgive Me, But: What is "cica"?

mizener@demon.siemens.com (Jeff Mizener) (01/17/91)

The answer is NOT in the manual...

I've just finished scanning 150 or so articles in this newsgroup and
have seen many references to "cica" (not to mention ATM).

What is it? Where is it? It seems to be an archive, but is it a server,
or do I have to ftp to it? Is there a directory available?

And what is ATM? I have font problems now and again and ATM seems to
be some sort of font manager -- did I guess right?

PLEASE don't post -- mail to the address below.

Thanks.

cica is an address of an ftp site. Actually cica.cica.indiana.edu is
the address (as in: ftp cica.cica.indiana.edu). If you ftp to cica,
you can type ftp (or anonymous) in response to user: and your user
name in response to password. You will then be able to use the commands:
ls (list), cd (change directory) and get in order to find and retrieve
a file.

ATM on the other hand is an abbreviation for Adobe Type Manager, a
MS-Windows program that lets you use Postscript Type 1 fonts in Windows
for both printing and for screen fonts.
